Social Participation

Public Welfare Philosophy and Engagement

CHS is committed to long-term investment in "Life" and "Education," two major areas of social welfare, and has adopted a corporate volunteerism philosophy to promote voluntary services among employees. The primary beneficiaries include vulnerable groups, neighboring communities around factories, and schools, aiming to implement a sustainable policy of "contributing to community well-being and participating in social welfare activities." In 2024, the initially allocated budget for public welfare sponsorship was NT$3,800,000; however, due to certain activities not being organized by the Company, the actual amount invested was NT$2,833,000. The main project descriptions are as follows.

Caring for Life

CHS supports the public health initiative of “Suicide Prevention and Life-saving” and has long sponsored the Greater Kaohsiung Lifeline Association's "Suicide Prevention and Life Education Promotion Program" at NT$500,000 annually. As of 2024, this sponsorship has continued for 21 years, with a cumulative donation of NT$10.5 million. The program includes:
  • Recruitment and training of counseling volunteers to provide services via the 1995 suicide prevention hotline
  • In-service training courses for existing volunteers
  • Professional counseling sessions for high-risk individuals
  • Community and campus life education seminars

Education Focus

CHS aligns with the Kaohsiung City Government Social Affairs Bureau's philosophy and execution strategy of the "Self-Sufficiency and Poverty Alleviation Program." Since 2004, CHS has donated NT$1 million annually, totaling NT$21 million to date. In addition to assisting with asset accumulation, the program implements five strategic areas—financial management, physical and mental health, learning, environment, and employment—to deliver proactive support measures. These efforts aim to build the capabilities of underprivileged households and support the internal and external growth of their children, ultimately achieving self-sufficiency.

The "Cross-Department Greenhouse Gas Reduction Collaboration" Project and Air Purification Zone Adoption and Maintenance

To mitigate climate change and air quality issues, the Kaohsiung City Government's Environmental Protection Bureau facilitates corporate subsidies and adoption mechanisms to assist schools and institutions in Kaohsiung in replacing and maintaining energy-saving equipment and adopting air purification zones. CHS has been actively involved in these initiatives since 2017 and 2018, contributing a total sponsorship amount of NT$750,000 to support greenhouse gas reduction across departments and the maintenance of adopted air purification zones.
